Cannot Believe It

I just cannot believe that Ava turned 9 months old yesterday. She has brought more joy into Joel and my lives than we ever could have expected. Her enthusiasm for life and being able to do new things is precious to watch. We are so blessed to be her parents and cannot wait to watch her continue to grow and develop. Some things that Ava enjoys right now are:

  • Feeding herself Cheerios
  • Talking (babbling...whatever you call it)
  • Making funny faces with her lips
  • Reading books with her parents
  • Standing up holding onto furniture (still to stubborn to crawl)

She is just too much fun. Everyday with her is a blessing.

We met some friends up at Greenbluff today to pick apples. The weather was beautiful and the company was great. I wish we could spend everyday like this. It was perfect!!

Attempt

A few girls from church get together every other week and sew. I have been a bit intimidated by them because they make the cutest things, and I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to sewing. But, I decided that I wanted to try to make Ava a skirt. She is small, so I knew it would not take much fabric to make…so it had to be easy right? NO…not easy for a non-sewer. I am glad that I did it, so that I can say that I made Ava something, but I do not know if I will attempt clothes again in the near future.

Here are a few pictures of the finished product. Ava sure looks enthused to be wearing it. Oh well, I do not know if I would love wearing it either.

In the last picture…I left a section of the ribbon unconnected from the skirt so I could add flowers to it.

At least I attempted it, and maybe next time the finished product will look a little better.

Who Needs One Anyway...

Joel had to have his appendix out today...not by choice. Last night he was in so much pain he could not sit still or get comfortable anywhere. Joel never complains when he is in pain, but this must have been some intense pain, because he said that he was not feeling well and hurting really bad for several hours. I told him that he had all the symptoms of a possible appendicitis, but he refused to go to the ER. We talk and I said if he started throwing up or the pain got worse within an hour we were going to the hospital. Sure enough both happened and he was out the door. At 4:30 AM this morning we got the news that he would be admitted and on the surgery schedule to have it removed. Joel would have killed me if I put a picture of him on this blog in the hospital, but just know that he looked hot in that blue stylish hospital gown. We are thankful he survived and is back home with us tonight.

Peach Festival Mishap

I heard on the news that the Greenbluff Peach Festival was this weekend, so we decided to head up their once Joel got off of work on Friday. What we did not know was that the festival did not start until Saturday, and most of the farms closed at 5:00 PM. So after driving to several farms to see if we could pick some peaches...we realized that we were out of luck. One farm on the way home let us go through their apple orchard, but said that the apples were not quite ripe enough to pick yet. We decided to take a walk through the orchard since we were already there.

Ava just adores her daddy!!

Ava prefers to try to walk...maybe someday we will have a crawler.

While we were walking through the apples, we saw this cute little tricycle. Joel wanted to see if Ava would sit on it, and I am glad that he tried it, because it made for some great pictures. Our baby is getting so big.

Even though Joel was sad that we did not get any peaches this trip, we had fun just spending time outside as a family. Can't wait to take Ava back to pick out her Fall Pumpkin.
