Spring Piano Recital

Last week I had my Spring Piano Recital. Only 5 of my 8 students were able to participate, but it still went really well. In the Spring, my students learn about one famous composer and learn one of their pieces for the recital. This year we studied Beethoven, and each student played one Beethoven piece and then one piece of their choice. Before they played their Beethoven pieces they each told a little bit about the composer and their life history.

I was so proud of each of my students. They all did very well.
Here is a picture of the group.

(Jonathan, Maddy, Kate, Celia, and Bella - and then I am in the back)

A few of them were really nervous to preform. And for some it was there very first recital, so we had a quick little huddle before the recital to have a pep-talk, deep breaths, and then they were ready. They are all so cute.

Then after the recital, we had refreshments and time to mingle with each other. My good friend Stacy made these cute drink bags for all the students. They turned out so cute, and were a huge hit.

All and all...I think that it was a great night.

Using Up Joel's Scraps

With Joel working around the house I find lots of scrap wood laying around. And with him in night classes I tend to get bored, so this is what I ended up making for a 4th of July decoration this week. Remember, it was just made with stuff I had around the house, so I am sure it could be cuter if I had taken the time to go to JoAnn's and get some fun paper, but oh well, I like it!

Mini - Golfers

This last weekend we decided to call our good friends Steph and Brett and see if they wanted to go play a little round of mini-golf with us. They decided to join us and we had a great time. We wanted to golf outside, but it was a little cold, so we settled on the indoor course. None of us had mini-golfed in a long time, so we were a little rusty at times.
Not too rub it in...but Brett and I tied for first place. Steph and Joel will just have to try harder next time.

After mini-golf we went to Steph and Brett's house to have rootbeer floats and chat.
It really was a great night. Joel and I could not have asked for better company.

Sharing a Birthday

Maria (my sister-in-law) and I shared a birthday party this last weekend. Our birthdays are just one day apart, so we always get to celebrate together. As I get older I do not care for birthdays as much...in fact, I would rather they not happen at all (I hate getting old). [By the way...this is a horrible picture of me, but the only one that I have from the party - just pretend I do not look so run down.] My birthday this year landed on Bloomsday, so my family was all in town due to the race. Therefore I cannot complain because I got to spend time with my two favorite brothers and their families.
