Using Up Joel's Scraps

With Joel working around the house I find lots of scrap wood laying around. And with him in night classes I tend to get bored, so this is what I ended up making for a 4th of July decoration this week. Remember, it was just made with stuff I had around the house, so I am sure it could be cuter if I had taken the time to go to JoAnn's and get some fun paper, but oh well, I like it!

Mini - Golfers

This last weekend we decided to call our good friends Steph and Brett and see if they wanted to go play a little round of mini-golf with us. They decided to join us and we had a great time. We wanted to golf outside, but it was a little cold, so we settled on the indoor course. None of us had mini-golfed in a long time, so we were a little rusty at times.
Not too rub it in...but Brett and I tied for first place. Steph and Joel will just have to try harder next time.

After mini-golf we went to Steph and Brett's house to have rootbeer floats and chat.
It really was a great night. Joel and I could not have asked for better company.

Sharing a Birthday

Maria (my sister-in-law) and I shared a birthday party this last weekend. Our birthdays are just one day apart, so we always get to celebrate together. As I get older I do not care for birthdays as much...in fact, I would rather they not happen at all (I hate getting old). [By the way...this is a horrible picture of me, but the only one that I have from the party - just pretend I do not look so run down.] My birthday this year landed on Bloomsday, so my family was all in town due to the race. Therefore I cannot complain because I got to spend time with my two favorite brothers and their families.

Maveric Turns 1...

Yesterday we went to visit my Brother Eric and his family for a very special event. My nephew Maveric had his first birthday party. He is seriously the cutest kid ever, and so much fun to watch. I love the pure joy in children’s eyes, and the excitement they have over the littlest things. They truly take nothing for granted.

Eric and Jenny had family come over to celebrate with Maveric. It is always fun to see Jenny’s side of the family. Eric grilled a wonderful barbeque, Eric and Jenny did a dedication of Maveric to God, and then we had cake and presents.

Watching Maveric eat his first birthday cake was fun. He enjoyed smashing it up and tasting the frosting.

And he loved tearing all the paper off the presents.

It was so nice just to spend the day with family.

Here is a picture of me and my grandmother.

We cannot wait for Maveric’s next birthday party since this one was such a hit!!

Sweet Deal...

OK…so I am finally starting to get the hang of this coupon thing. I stopped at Albertson’s and Rite Aid today and bought what is shown in the picture for $3.30 total. Some of you might be questioning why I bought a glucose monitor and some pull-up diapers, but those alone came to only $1.38. I have friends and relatives with children that would love to get free diapers, and I have a friend with gestational diabetes too. Score for them.
All-in-all, I think that it was a pretty good shopping day, and it ended up being a great deal.
